There is a huge range of what types of law attorneys practice. Cases can be anything from birth malpractice to immigration law. One of the biggest areas that attorneys get many cases in is a sexual harassment case in the workplace. For attorneys sexual harassment situations are taken very seriously and not brought forward unless there is a legitimate claim.
Sexual harassment is relatively common in a workplace. However, for a suit to be brought forward means that the person claiming sexual harassment found the situation to be very serious. Sexual harassment is an issue that is taken very seriously, especially in large and well-known corporations. This is because sexual harassment cases involve very public figures tend to draw attention that is negative. Most people and corporations do not want that negative press, because it can affect their sales and revenues. One of the most well-known sexual harassment cases involved the Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas, where a woman accused him of making sexual comments toward her. To this day, the debate on who is telling the truth still continues. From this example, you can tell that sexual harassment cases involving public figures can get the full blown media attention that is unwanted from both parties. It becomes a case of “he said, she said” where both parties’ integrity and character is questioned. These types of cases are negative for both sides, and usually are not pursued unless the plaintiff truly felt violated by the harassment of the defendant.
